I am sad to see 2010 slip into history since it was a very historic year for me. I am the first individual in all of time to have kept a New Year’s Resolution for an entire year! Yup, I did it!

This post isn’t really about me but I thought I’d start it off with one of my favorite videos of me anyway. I’m including this video just to remind people that I have a YouTube channel as CaplinCapybara with about 120 videos on it so far. However, you will notice that the above video is not on that channel. When I was a baby there was a bit of confusion about how to do things and ten of my earliest videos ended up on the Shmaplina channel. So if you want to see my baby videos, that’s where to go. Lesser Capybara (photo by Michael Peters) Owners blog: All of my readers surely know that Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris is the scientific name for capybaras such as my wonderful pet, Caplin Rous. What you might not know is that there are two species of capybaras, or possibly one species with two subspecies. The lesser known capybara, Hydrochoerus isthmius, is commonly called the lesser capybara, probably because it smaller than the common capybara and not because it is lesser known. |
