I am convinced that my new home is an insane asylum and that Melly is the patient/inmate. She decided that we need to have a contest to promote the new capybara puzzles (virtually all featuring Caplin Rous, one featuring Dobby Winnick and NONE featuring me). I can go along with that. It’s a good cause, The ROUS Foundation, and I think arts and crafts is a fun kind of contest.
But then Melly decided that she had to make one herself to kind-of show people what to do. ZOMG! Do you see that thing she made? People! People! Please do not base your entries on that. As soon as I can I am going to mash that thing under my paws. Then Melly had the nerve to say that her crafty capybara was me because it is not cute enough to be Caplin! I admit it is not cute enough to be Caplin but it is also not cute enough to be me! It isn’t cute enough to be ANY capybara! Even the least cute capybara is infinitely cuter than that.
Okay, okay. I have to calm down. Breathe. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
I’m better now.
So let’s talk about the contest. Here are the rules:
- Anyone can enter with as many entries as you like

ENTRIES
Looking at the capy from the front view…he is kinda cute! π
I agree. I think the capybara in the bottom photo is cute! π
I could eat that entry. Maybe not the toothpicks.
Adorable!
As a matter of fact, I’ve often compared guinea pigs to potatoes with feet. I now realize my mistake. Right species, wrong animal.
I think of gpigs as eggplant with feet…
We’re in!
Actually, your example here DOES have a certain cappy charm……
Try as I might, I can’t find a potato.
I love PotatoCapy-san!
Dear Gari. Tomorrow is your birthday!! Happy Birthday sweet boy!!
I hope you get lots of blueberries and maybe even some yogurt for a special treat.
You have been adopted by a wonderful and loving family. May you have lots of exciting adventures.
I think these are all fabulous!!!
But I don’t see any potato-capy that others are talking about!!!
The orange one that Melly made is made from potatoes covered with clay.
Those are all fantastic!
I agree with Kathy…they all have their own charm! Great!
OH! OK got it Gari! Sample you is the potato!!
Wow last one really good too (Hungry hungry Capybara)
I am really impressed!
Even though few entries so far, choosing will be difficult!
We have some really good capy-bara loving artists here!
Hey, I sent in two entries last Sunday and they are not up. Does anyone know when more entries will be posted?
Needlefelting! I love it! I am a (very) beginning Needle Felter so I don’t know that I will embarrass myself by doing so in public, but I now totally want to try a Needle Felting of a Capy!
What a great bunch of entres!
*oops…entries!
I love #16 and the man who created it <3
It will be VERY hard to vote when the time comes! π Everyone’s entries are so creative, yet so different, and all so cool! I’m looking forward to voting, tho it’ll be a challenge. And I do *not* plan to vote for my own entry, because it’s definitely not among the better ones. :”> hehee (I mainly entered for the pure fun of it)
Hugs,
Shari in San Jose
P.S. If I’ve time today, I’ll go to my P.O. Box and pick up my Caplin Reading puzzle. I can’t wait to put it together! π
Pauline,
Your cross stitch is just beautiful!!!!
Will definitely be difficult to choose winners…some very creative and outstanding entries here! Some just made me chuckle out loud as they capture the essence and fun of a capy!
Wow this is going to be very hard!!!!
The one w/Coral is quite funny!
BUT LOVE them ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Vickie:-)
I agree with you all. It is going to be so hard to choose/vote. Such imagination and talent out there.
I agree…I don’t know how to choose. Each is great in its own way. What inspirations you are, Gari and Caplin.
I vote for #27 (Gari in Bed). Love the colors! Love the languid pose.
I think it is going to be difficult for the judges to decide on which entry will be the best. They are all absolutely beautiful and so diverse. It is amazing what different individuals come up with. I think the next thing you will have to sell for your non-profit are greeting cards with some of these images on them. I am sure people would like to buy those!!!
Excellent job everyone. I didn’t get a chance to enter so I’m waiting for the next contest. Maybe a poetry contest????
I can’t select one; they are all beyond excellent! I declare them all “winners”. π
WOW! I’m so impressed! These are really great! π Capy fans are very talented.
This is such a unique, eclectic collection of Cappy-Art. I do not envy the decision maker(s) at all! Fortunately for everyone, I am not one teeny, tiny bit artistic. People who know me say I couldn’t “draw myself out of a paper bag “. They are right….
Good luck to all entrants. I wish you well.
These are all really fantastic!! I wish I could have participated, but I just had hand surgery. Booo! I am impressed by all the artsy talent out there. Great work capy-artists! π
This was the best contest EVER! So much talent but so far I see my choice winning…GO EMMA!!! #17!!
#20 would make a great t-shirt design to sell for the foundation π
They’re all beautiful–I can’t just choose two!
That was fun. AGAIN!!!!
