Owner’s blog:
Hi all! I am in need of a logo for the ROUS Foundation for Capybara Veterinary Medicine. As some of you may know, the Foundation was started after Caplin Rous died unexpectedly on January 4th, 2011, a day that will burn forever in my heart.
After Caplin’s death I wanted to do something to try to prevent such tragedies from happening again. The first step toward that is knowledge and it turns out there is surprisingly little knowledge about capybara veterinary care, diseases and environmentalΒ susceptibilities. I started the ROUS Foundation in conjunction with Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine to develop a knowledge center of capybara. It has taken a while to get things going but soon everything should be in place.
However, as everyone knows, we can’t have a Foundation without a logo! That’s where you come in. Create your own version of a ROUS Foundation logo and email it me using the “contact” tab at the top of this page. I will put all the entries that I receive before June 4th up here and then open voting to the public. Get your creative hats on!

Great logos! π
So far, so good! These are all beautiful.
Actually, so far I love them all!!! π I’m sure it will be VERY hard to vote once all the entries come in. People are so creative.
I had fun entering the artsy-craftsy contest but I doubt I’ll enter this one; I’m no good at graphic design. :/
Hugs,
Shari in California π
I love Ashley Engelhardt’s submission! The colors are gorgeous.
I vote for Papua Piig’s mommy’s logo although they are all great!
What a great contest! These are good. Maybe i’ll give a try ; )
What Shari said. π
These are great!
These are stupendous!!! I want to see more more more!!!
They ARE all beautiful! But…. I would pick #1, #2, #4, in that order of most favorite, 2nd most, & 3rd.
If i were in the jury, I would not be able to choose. They are all so touching.
Shannon, just a note: your capybaras are not very capybara-like. The first one is more like a black panther, and the other one reminds a puppy. But they are beautiful. maybe you edit them a little bit?
I like Jeff’s entry #10. Simple, yet very effective. Gets the message across & I LOVE his drawing of the capyberra.
All drawings are well thought out. Kudos to ya’ll
In her original post, Melanie mentioned having Caplin in the logo, as well as it being circular, and mentioning veterinary care, and I only see a couple of entries that fit that criteria. ..that may be something to keep in mind when we are voting..

I love them all. #9 kinda reminds me of Dobby. π
I think they’re all great! Friend of capys, I don’t think any of them are outside of Melanie’s criteria. She put question marks after those ideas. I think she was giving suggestions not specs. Artists often think outside the box and I think these solutions are very creative!
I vote for #10, it’s extremely professional, gets the point across, and just makes sense. Love it!
I vote for entry #6!
WOW!! They are all so good, it is going to be hard to choose just one……..
They are all wonderful! It’s so hard voting for just 3.
I am in love with Entry #4: Angela Mitchell. Great work!
wow !!!!!! they are all brillllllliant……I especially like no. 4 and then no. 10……….and what a booooootiful drawing at the end no. 12 xxx
I vote for #10
#2 & #4 & #10.
Both 2 & 4 would reproduce better on letter heads & cards, also if people were to photocopy it. Simple graphics & solid colours.
#10
#2
Def number 4 π
They are all great but I picked #11
I vote for #2, and would suggest that “For Capybara Veterinary Medicine” be added at the bottom. The logo is clear and professional looking. I would recommend staying away from a cartoon-like image of a capybara.
Oooh touch choice!!! I am trying to decide between 2 and 4.
Our favorites are entry #4 (Angela Mitchell) and entry #2 (Ashley Engelhardt), in that order. They are all lovely, though.
I want to compliment ALL the folks who created logos! π I competed in the Artsy-Craftsy contest but I could never compete in this one. I had a hard time voting for just three entries because I loved everyone’s! But I thought I’d share my favorites, since everyone likes recognition. My faves were numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Although not necessarily in that order. (Funny coincidence how they’re all in that grouping!). I won’t say which three of them I narrowed it down to.
Hugs from California,
Shari π
I like # 2
***NUMBER 4 IN BROWN****
I don’t see #1, it just starts at #2?
I vote #4 (Angela Mitchell) for best design, with #12 (Stacey Winnick) as runner up but everyone put their hearts into these clearly so great job to all the artists!
Remember to vote using the poll on the right sidebar!
#1 is above the text in the blog post. I always start with an image.
Oh silly me, I need to get my eyes checked! Thanks for clearing that up, Gari π
I love number 4.
I vote #4. It is attractive and very clear. They are all great though!
Wow! So many good ones!! Hard to pick. But I’ve landed on #4, the brown and red one will be terrific on stationery… hats and shirts! I already want a shirt!! π And the b/w version will do great for anything that won’t be copied in color, too.
I have to give props to the one with the capy eating the “R”… So clever! Capy fans are awesome.
Definitely #4 is the best one. Very creative, graphic and can be used both in color and B&W with no problems.
I vote for #1. The only little problem with this one is that the “R” look like a “P” for a little. Maybe some different colouring would do the job…
#10 gets my vote
All of these are great! Had a really hard time deciding!
# 2 – Looks professional – all are good!
