Playing with Rick
Melly has been singing a little song lately and I thought I would share it with you.
Gari’s Song
Sung to the tune of Stewball (was a racehorse)
Oh Gari is a capybara, and I know he is mine,
But he doesn’t love me, he wants Rick all the time.
I feed him the freshest corn and lettuce and chard.
I go out with scissors and cut grass from the yard!
I give him his scratches, I feed him his treats.
I take him out swimming, let him chew on the sheets.
But Rick is his favorite. Oh, what can I say?
Is it just wishful thinking, to believe he’ll love me one day?

What can I say? A capybara cannot control his own heart! I suppose I should try to be nicer to Melly. I’ll make that my New Year’s resolution! But, you know, most New Year’s resolutions don’t last until February, and that’s only two weeks away.
I am so glad he loves Rick…they are such creatures of habit and the bond is so strong…he loves Mel as you do feed him but he is a Mans Man be proud he loves Rick. MIckki hates Amos and loves only me..not even other people’
Oh Gari, don’t be silly. I know you love Rick but always remember who gets your food and treats and all. It is Melly my dear so please don’t be upset by her song. Melly means well and she is just expressing how she feels. Give her a little Capy kiss and sit on your stool. That just might make Melly suoer happy. Melly, I love the song even if Gari doesn’t. 🙂
When Lady was alive, no matter what I did it was always my husband who had the edge:-( saying that: my lap was the one she always went to so I guess she knew which side her bread was buttered! Now all I have to do is find out this “Stewball” tune:-)
I like the song even if it is a little sad…
I know Melly is the one who takes you to the doctor and to scary places…but it’s because she loves you! This is how human pet slaves have to be sometimes.
I think most animals love different things about different people, and it can be hard for us, if it seems they respond so much better to someone else. Gari loves you. He’s just not showing it in a way you can easily recognize. Just love him, and let him love you back in his way!
Smelly needs for you to follow her around, nose-to-knee, for a while. Then she’ll be happy to have Rick be The One.
