My 2nd Stalkers!

Me and my stalkers

Me and my stalkers

Hi all! Well, I’m back, Mudskipper Rous, after a bit of an absence due to MelTs laziness. You really cannot imagine just how lazy she is! And she’s always blaming it on her brain damage, which is ridiculous. That was over a year ago, get over it! Anyway, my new post is about two great stalkers who visited me all the way from Tatarstan, which is in Russia. That’s a long way away. And they brought the World’s Most Traveled Super Capy with them. You can see a photo of the five of us together above. (Six if you count Supre Capy, which you should.)

Me with Gölnur

Me with Gölnur.

This is Gölnur. She has very tasty hair. It took me a while to warm up to her but then I decided I really like her.

Me with Rawil

This is Gölnur’s husband, Rawil. Unlike most couples who visit me or other capybaras, Gölnur and Rawil are both big capybara fans. Garibaldi wrote a blog post about them a long time ago. In fact, he wrote two! Well, they’re mostly about Super Capy. The first one is called Rats and Hats. The second one is Super Capy in Tatarstan. You should really read those, or at least look at the photos.

I think Gölnur and Rawil would have rather met Garibaldi Rous than me, but they said I was a good substitute, or something like that.

Me and Driftwood lazing around

Me and Driftwood lazing around

Let’s start at the beginning.

One day Driftwood and I were sleeping, eating, and playing, which is what we do everyday. You can see a photo of me chewing on Driftwood’s ear. This is one of my favorite pastimes. I don’t think Drifter is really wild about it though, he keeps moving away or clawing my face.

Anyway, there we were when these two strangers showed up at the house. MelT let them in. She even acted happy to see them. Driftwood ran to the other room. I took my chances hiding behind the couch.

Who are you?

Who are you?

MelT told them to get on the floor and that would make me come out. I’m a sucker for that. It’s really logical though, isn’t it? Humans can’t attack very well if they are lying down. When I came over to explore Gölnur, she started scratching me. I liked her already!

Climbing Mt. Gölnur

Climbing Mt. Gölnur

There’s no better way to get to know someone than to climb all over them. Unless it’s chewing on their ear, but most people won’t let me do that for some reason.

Making new friends is nice.

So far all the stalkers I’ve met, which isn’t that many, love to scratch me. This works out well for both of us.

Meeting Rawil

Meeting Rawil

Another thing about stalkers is the like to give me treats. MelT doesn’t give me nearly enough. I don’t even mind standing to get a treat, like I did for Rawil in the photo above.

Climbing Mt. Rawil

Climbing Mt. Rawil

Of course I had to climb on Rawil too but a funny thing happened, a Super Capy climbed on me!  His name is Su Duñğızı (pronounced as Soo Doong ge ze). It means water pig in Tatar.  Su Duñğızı is the most traveled capybara in the world. First he was here in Texas, then he flew to Tatarstan, then he came back here. That’s a long, long way! But he’s been other places too. I think he’s been to Germany. They told me all the places he’s been but I forgot.

Rawil and me as couch potatoes.

Rawil went to sit on the couch and I joined him…at a safe distance. It worked because he started scrathing me.

More scratches please.

More scratches please.

He managed to sidle over closer to me but who am I to complain when he is petting me so nicely?

Rawil rubbed my ears!

Rawil rubbed my ears!

My ears are one of my cutest parts but usually people don’t rub them. Rawil knows his way to a capybara’s heart.

Well, you can hardly blame him for wanting to take a photo with me. I think I might have blinked.

I guess WBB1 is almost as famous as I am because everyone wants a photo with him too. And, of course,  Su Duñğızı wanted in on the action. I think we all came out pretty cute.

The proportions in this photo reflect our relative importance and cuteness. MelT is very small and my nose is very large.

Entertaining guests is fun but it is also hard work. After the party I need a long, quite nap.

You are famous already! Will you be tired of being scratched and fed snacks by the time I get to see you? I hope not!

  • Alex

Wow! You must give me their address, they sure speak Russian!

  • Catherine

Great photos, great friends. You’re a lucky little capy 🙂 Love your updates!

Hey “Little Mud” It sure looks like you had a fun time. I get very jealous when I see all your stalkers holding and scratching you. It should be ME doing that to you. You sure have the cutest ears. I will have to remember to scratch them when I come to visit you. You are really growing. Tell MelT that I really love that embroidered foot rest that you and Driftwood are sitting next to. That is a very colorful picture and you both look very beautiful next to it. I am sending you all lot’s of hugs and love….here comes a BIG hug….and lot’s of XXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Muddy, we miss you so much! We also miss Driftwood and WBB1, too! And surely we miss Melanie and Rick! I hope we will see you again one day. At that time you will be an adult capybara, big and brave (I must mention that Muddy is already a brave capybara). But we will always remember you as cute baby capybara, little and shy! We are so happy that we were able to meet you in person.

Su Duñğızı was delighted to have a little ride sitting on a real capy! He hopes Muddy also liked it.

Alex, we do speak Russian a bit :-). Melanie has got my email, can you please get it and write me?
