In regards to my post on July 7th and the reply...thank you for info.
What we saw on the banks of the Mississippi was not a beaver, it did not have a tail and I have seen beavers before and this was no beaver.
I just checked a website on Nutria's and what we saw was much bigger than any of the pics and again, it didn't have a tail. The weather this time of year in st louis is hot and humid...temp of 95 w/ heat index over 100 for almost two weeks.
A mistory that will go unsolved...but it really looked like the capy's we saw at Grants Farm Zoo in St Louis.

Nic seems like a very kind, thoughtful & generous boy, and I hope his parents are proud of him! :) I also like his artistic creativity and his sense of humor. I actually giggled out loud at your comic strip adventures! ;D

It's cool how you inspire both kids and adults in various ways. You're a great rodent ambassador and I sure hope I get to meet you some day. If so, I'll bring you blueberries, in memory of my pet rats Berry & Jelly, since that seems to be one of the few foods you & they have in common in terms of loving it! :) My boys actually loved a LOT of different fruits & veggies, but I know you're quite finicky. So, blueberries it will be! *hugs*
Love,
Shari Kaplan from California (your facebook friend too)

The book is called, "Capybara (Kapibara)-kun." In Japanese, -kun is a suffix that would be put at the end of a young boy's name as a term of endearment. I'd call my male students, up to age 8 or 9, maybe 10, (name)-kun. On a sidenote, it's also the same suffix that a man would put on his best friend's name, regardless of age, especially if they've been friends for years! It's also appropriate for brother-sister and brothers :) The backpack he has on is light blue, which means the character's supposed to be in early elementary school. Typically, the summer kindergarten and early elementary uniform for boys (and girls, now!) are blue shorts and white t-shirts.
Enjoy!
