Garibaldi is Sick: A Turn for the Better!

Garibaldi Rous' poop bowl

Owner’s blog:

I don’t think I have ever featured capybara poop as the opening photo of a blog post but this is a momentous occasion and cause for great joy and celebration! After three days, Garibaldi finally pooped! It’s not the explosion of poop that might have been anticipated but it absolutely means his digestive tract is still functioning. What a tremendous relief!

The Serial Pooler

A dip before a dip

Everyone knows that I, like all capybaras, love the water. But maybe you didn’t know that I have two pools. I have the little green wading pool that you see in the photo above and I have my big blue pool. I use them both. In fact, usually I get in my green pool on my way to my blue pool. Melly likes it when I do that because, for reasons I do not understand, she likes to keep the big pool clean. Continue reading “The Serial Pooler” »

Me and Leopolda

Me and Leopolda sharing the lawn

Probably most you know that I have a tortoise co-pet named Leopolda (Leah for short). Melly tells me Caplin clicked at her, bit at her shell and tried to chase her around the yard, except that she didn’t care. I guess I’m just more easy going than Caplin was because I don’t feel any need to chase Leah. There’s grass enough for everybody, that’s my motto.

What’s For Dinner?

Me eating a piece of corn

A better question is what’s not for dinner.

I am a hungry capybara, no question about it. Well, it’s just that I’m growing so fast I need to eat a whole lot. These past few weeks that I’ve been living at my new home with Melly and Rick, I have been putting over two pounds per week. It’s hard work growing that fast! In fact, it’s so hard that it’s just unreasonable to expect me to stand or sit up while eating. I’ve got to get maximum use out of those calories.

Hungry, Hungry Capybaras

How much can those little guys eat?

My owner says the Capycoppies were made in my image and I guess it must be true because they are just like me in that they love yogurt. I’m not so crazy about their yogurt consumption though. What if my owner runs out? I am not sure she has really planned for this.

Stop begging!

They don’t give me a moment’s peace. Look at them eying my yogurt in my bowl!  My owner gave them their own but it is just never enough.

Capycoppy feeding frenzy

I almost sympathize with this. My owner really never gives me enough and the Capycoppies are probably always hungry. I suppose they are still growing and might someday be as big as me.

How many bowls of yogurt can they eat?

I guess I shouldn’t ask that question since it has never been answered for me and I am only one capybara. Poor little guys aren’t really that good at sharing.
