A Melanie’s Mondays post
It is with great sadness that I share the news that our beloved friend and companion, Winston Bumblebee Barcode the 1st has died. He is already greatly missed. As you can see from the photo above, WBB1 was a uniquely handsome and athletic guinea pig.

The photo above was taken on October 15, 2012. That was the day that I first met WBB1, who was nameless at the time. The pet store had a sign that said, “Free Adult Guinea Pig With Cage.” I had to ask how much an adult guinea pig was without the cage. I don’t remember how much he said. It still amazes me that you can buy cuteness.

Garibaldi was always careful and sweet with Winston. Despite the huge size difference, no trampling ever took place.

I think they might have been having a cuteness contest. It was a tie.

There was just no end to Winston’s cuteness. It was impossible for him to hide it, even when he was in a cardboard tube.

Of course, no one can forget how cute baby Mudskipper was with WBB1. Skipper loved to chew on his ears. Later she could have bitten his ear off, but she never did.

Skipper and WBB1 always looked so cute together. Shrink a capybara down to guinea pig size and you can easily tell they are related. I never found a good harness for WBB1.

WBB1 was either a brave or a foolhardy guinea pig. Probably both. But no harm ever can to him for his careless behavior. It would be like a human running under the belly of a dinosaur.

Winston Bumblebee Barcode the 1st is a very noble name and Winston carried it proudly. He had a long and happy life, but it is still hard to say goodbye.
Comments are welcome and appreciated. I do request that there be no mention of the “rainbow bridge.” I know many of you find that comforting, but…well, best to say that I just don’t. Thank you.
