Dobby(e) Trip: Part 1
I’m starting this post with a cute photo of Prince Dobalob, aka Dobby(e) Winnick. Isn’t he adorable? Well, get over it because the whole rest of this post is not going to be about Dobby at all, it’s going to be about my journey to get to him. The journey starts in Buda, TX, detours […]
Caplin Day 2014
July 10th is Caplin Day, also known as Capybara Appreciation Day. We celebrate this day in honor of Caplin Rous (2007/02/10 – 2011/01/03) . He would have been seven this year. This year we are also celebrating the life of my beloved Garibaldi Rous (2010/03/11 – 2014/02/16).
At Home with Romeo & Tuff’n
In our last installment, Meeting Romeo and Tuff’n, I introduced the two capybara brothers, Romeo and Tuff’n, and their owners, Marvin and Elizabeth. As you may recall, I was in Las Vegas for the 2014 BlogPaws convention. It was a great chance to meet these two very personable capybaras and their proud owners.
Meeting Romeo and Tuffn
One of the great things about the BlogPaws conference being on Las Vegas was that it gave me the chance to meet the famous capybara “brothers,” Romeo and Tuff’n. Oh, and their humans, Marvin and Elizabeth, too. In the photo above, Marvin is on the left, then Romeo, Tuff’n is grazing, and Elizabeth is on […]
Conference Capybara Part 2
This is part two of a three part series. Conference Capybara is the first part of the story of little Mia Davisson, the six-month-old niece of Garibaldi Rous and daughter of Wesley and Fiona at the 2014 BlogPaws conference. In the photo above, you can see Mia likes a nice soft bed but has her […]
Conference Capybara
This month I attended the 2014 BlogPaws Conference held at the Westin Hotel in Lake Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a bittersweet time because I really missed Garibaldi Rous. I was hoping to have him attend the conference with me this year but things did not go well for either of us. Luckily, I had […]
Springtime with Wesley & Fiona
I’m just going to get this adorable lion cub photo out of the way by putting it at the top of this post. Remember that Wesley & Fiona live at the Wild Animal & Snake Farm Zoo so there are a lot of other animals there. The two white lion cubs get a whole lot […]
Introducing Wesley and Fiona
I’ve been pretty depressed since Garibaldi Rous died. There are now two huge capybara-shaped holes in my heart and that is very, very hard to live with. I guess Rick sensed that when he suggested that we go visit the capybaras at the Snake Farm Zoo in New Braunfels, Texas, which is only about thirty […]
A Converstation With National Geographic
The following is my latest exchange with National Geographic Magazine concerning their article on Wild Pets. The first part of this exchange can be found in my post Why I Hate National Geographic Magazine. The first quoted text is an email I received from them in response to the email I sent. The second quoted […]
Why I Hate National Geographic Magazine
I remember how excited I was when National Geographic Magazine contacted me about including Garibaldi Rous in their upcoming article on exotic pets. I could hardly imagine the great effect this would have on capybara awareness worldwide. And I would get a National Geographic quality photo of Gari! Even so, I wasn’t so excited that […]
